TGAGNOI – General Membership Meeting --  3/15/07

World War II (formerly D Day) Museum

Members toured the Ann Frank Exhibit prior to the meeting.

The meeting was called to order by President Madeline Axtman at 6:30pm.

Our next General Meeting will be April 19^th at the Ursuline Convent on Charters Street at 7pm.  We will be able to view the Vatican Mosaic Exhibit.

Dues are due.  Please see Vice President of Membership, Darleen Landry, to pay your dues and update your information.  Dues must be paid by March 31^st for name and tour guide information to be included in the 2007 Directory.

Bobbie Gattuso, National Association of Tour Guides President was introduced.  She explained that 16 cities with tour guide associations belong to the national organization.  Their meeting is held every other year and this was a great opportunity to show to tour guides from around the country that New Orleans is back up and running and very available to entertain visitors.  July 19-22 are the dates for the Conference.  Approximately 200 people should be attending (main areas are from Washington D.C., San Antonio, and Chicago).  Rather than a separate TGAGNOI Seminar, the conference will include programs of interest and education for local tour guides.  WE NEED YOUR HELP to make the event a success.  Please let Bobbie know if you’d like to be part of this important tourism conference. 

August 5^th is the proposed date for our next Locals’ Day to provide tours as a thank you to the community.  Please keep that date open to volunteer.

Our President then introduced Vice President Gene Reyes, who spoke about our first fundraising trip of the year, scheduled for Tuesday, May 8th.  “A Day In Pompeii” – an exhibit in Mobile, AL is on the agenda, along with a IMAX showing, lunch at Lambert’s Restaurant and possible a visit to the outlet mall in Foley, time permitting.  $79 is the all inclusive cost per person and we need 52 people to attend.  Money for the trip is due by April 25^th.  It should be an interesting and enjoyable event – and – you’ll get CEP Units for attending!  Please see Gene to sign up!

There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 6:45pm.

Tickets were provided for a complimentary future visit to the museum.
