Present: President, Lynn Wolken; 1st Vice President, Barbara Robichaux, Recording Secretary Estelle de Verges; Newsletter Editor, Saundra Green; Public Relations, Mary LaCoste; Standards/Continuing Education Chairman, Adam Stevenson. Absent: 2nd Vice President Shirley Colomb; Treasurer, Alfred Rodriguez; Membership/Registrar, Madeline Axtman; Corresponding Secretary, Beverly Buisson. Minutes of the June 2006 Board Meeting were read and accepted. Motion: Barbara Robichaux/Seconded: Mary LaCoste. The Financial Report was reviewed and accepted. Motion: Adam Stevenson/Seconded: Saundra Green. Old Business: Insurance - Correspondence is now complete so that those who paid for insurance will receive coverage through December 31, 2006. Cost was approximately $1,200.00. Locals Day – Sunday, August 13th at the NOVCB from 10am-4pm. Buses have been generously donated by Gray Line and tours will be available at 10am/12pm/2pm. The City Tours will be open for those who were affected by the Hurricane in Louisiana and Mississippi. Space is limited and tours will be available on first come first served basis to ticket holders. (Tickets will e distributed at the NOVCB). New Business: Former TGAGNOI President Bobbie Gattuso has been elected President of the National Tour Guides Organization. Congratulations! Reports: Barbara Robichaux advised that she’s working on completion of plans for the Sugar Mill Trip for October 26th. Lunch at previously mentioned restaurants will not meet our needs. Barbara is researching other options. Buses will carry 50 people and the price is $75. A nonrefundable $25 deposit to hold a seat is due September 30th. Shirley Colomb sent an update that the September meeting will be at the I-Max Theater. The July General Meeting will be at the WWII (formerly D-Day) Museum where a presentation will be made on the new Normandy exhibit and other expansion plans along with a tour of the facility. Madeline Axtman, (unable to attend the meeting due to the west bank rainstorm) had advised that there has been interest by a business to join as a new corporate member. Their rep has been invited to the next General Meeting. Mary LaCoste will continue her publicizing Local’s Day and the TGAGNOI Seminar. Adam Stevenson advised that Seminar Plans are progressing well. He has received approximately 30 checks from members wishing to attend. Rather than binders with information, there will be a table with all sorts of items allowing participants to select publications and other materials of interest. Saundra Green is accepting articles and information for the next newsletter publication. There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 7:40pm.
